I am so thrilled to have the chance to experience paragliding! My initial exposure to this activity came from watching someone’s YouTube channel, and I already thought paragliding was something really special. I never imagined I’d actually get the opportunity to try it myself, so I’ve been looking forward to it immensely! Before setting off, Captain Rio reminded me to prepare appropriate clothing, shoes, a small amount of food, and two large bottles of water. “Because I’m too light, I need to add extra weight,” he explained. It turns out that soaring into the skies isn’t as simple as it seems!

When we got to the mountain, many paragliding enthusiasts had also arrived at the destination to prepare for their flights. Unfortunately, the weather was not ideal—it was quite foggy. For safety reasons, everyone decided to wait. Although I was really looking forward to flying, I understood that safety comes first. When the weather is unstable or the wind is too strong, taking off isn’t possible. I fully trusted and respected Captain Rio’s decision.

Just when I started feeling a bit disappointed, the weather suddenly stabilized, and the opportunity finally came! The moment we took off was incredibly exciting—I felt like a bird soaring freely in the sky. With Captain Rio behind me, I felt completely at ease.

My mom was deeply moved by this journey because I turned the impossible into reality! I am truly grateful to Captain Rio and his team for giving me such an unforgettable experience.

No longer just a dream!

Soaring into the skies is no longer just a dream. As someone living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, I’ve relied on a wheelchair since I was nine. Though my mobility is limited, I’ve always loved trying new challenges, and paragliding has long been one of the must-try items on my list. After the media shared my story, Brother Rio reached out to us, and thus began the grand plan to take to the skies.

Overcoming various obstacles along the way, I finally achieved lift-off, soaring freely through the open skies. The breathtaking scenery unfolded beneath me, and despite my inability to walk, in that moment, I felt like a mighty eagle. I savored the feeling of the wind on my face, the warmth of the sunlight, the fresh air, and the speed. It allowed me to forget my worries, break through my own limits, and achieve yet another dream.

Yesterday, I had my first-ever paragliding flight, thanks to an incredible organization called Project Airtime. This non-governmental group specializes in creating accessible paragliding experiences for people with disabilities.

From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel welcome and safe. They transferred me into their adapted equipment. The journey up the mountain was a bumpy adventure, but it only added to the excitement as we climbed to the launch site surrounded by stunning scenery.

When it was time to take off, my heart raced with anticipation. As we launched into the sky, the sensation was indescribable—I felt weightless, free, and completely alive. The view from above was breathtaking: vast forests, the winding river, and majestic mountains stretched as far as the eye could see. For the first time in years, I felt liberated from the pain and limitations of my condition.

I’m deeply grateful to Project Airtime and their team for helping me turn my dream into reality. This experience has given me a newfound sense of freedom and hope, and I’ll treasure it forever.

My First Adaptive Paragliding Experience

Flying has always been a dream of mine, and thanks to Project Airtime, that dream became a reality in a beautiful surroundings. The team’s warmth and professionalism put me at ease. They took great care in explaining every step, ensuring my safety and comfort throughout the experience.

As we soared into the open skies, I experienced an overwhelming sense of freedom. The vast forests, winding rivers, and majestic mountains stretched endlessly beneath me. This unforgettable experience reminded me that life is full of possibilities, and I’m deeply grateful to Project Airtime for making it happen. I hope to take to the skies again soon.

I learned about Adaptive Air Time from a paraplegic forum and decided to ask the organization if I could try paragliding. The organizer, Project Airtime, immediately responded with approval. A few weeks later, I arranged with one of my friends to go to Aggassiz. Yesterday, my dream came true—I flew! When my friend, my assistant, and I arrived at the location. Wearing the equioment, the team pushed my chair towards the edge, and the flight began. As we took off, I suddenly felt that the pain in my body almost disappeared. I eagerly gulped in the air not only through my nose but also my mouth, and I couldn’t stop laughing. I completely forgot about my wheelchair. Below me, I saw the distant yet close winding ribbon of the river, carpets of fields and forests, and mountains, endless mountains. The wind whistled in my ears.

Everything was as I had dreamed. I wanted it to last forever. I was free. Free even from pain!
